I strongly prefer working in private cubicles or segmented workspaces rather than open-plan layouts. Open offices are notoriously noisy with constant telephone chatter and movement, which severely disrupts analytical thinking and concentration. Having dedicated personal workstation boundaries provides acoustic privacy, reduces visual distractions, and allows workers to produce higher quality work with fewer errors.
